Hot Potato
In a Philadelphian specialist potato restaurant in Philadelphia (with very friendly waiters, and root beer), Friday 12th, 7.30pm. Last night was really fun; one of the acts was a Rock n’ Roll loop pedal enthusiast and the headlining band’s bassist slept backstage until it was time for him to play and he took his hat off and rocked out. The crowd was great and we sold some of the American versions of our new album. Emma carried on the party uptown drinking with her cousin and her actor/waiter friends. Her night ended with a trip to a diner at 3am – where everyone was sitting down and ordering full meals – she wanted a takeaway kebab! And a yellow taxi home at 4am to get up at 10 am the next morning. Dan and Andy made their way back to New Jersey and stayed up chatting with the Skuller family.
Due to airport ‘security’ Dan’s bag had been ransacked and he discovered one of his guitar pedals had been broken. So he and Andy spent this morning sorting a replacement from a guitar shop near Times Square. They met up with Emma to pick up the rental car – a big red Dodge Charger! Cruising through Manhattan and rolling down to Philly in torrential rain and gusty winds, Standard Fare rocked up for an interview with WXPN radio two hours late… The show tonight is an alcohol-free, all-age, all-night rave in a warehouse – we need some energy… potatoes in any way you could imagine, right here, right now. Potato Fact: The largest grown potato was 18lb 4oz, grown in England (of course) in 1795. Also Emma insists you should know the potato was the first vegetable grown in outer space (in 1995). – That we know of! Wow!
