New York - Philadelphia - New Haven - Boston - Texas

Timber!!!!

Sunday 14th March 6pm in the Cake Shop, NYC again. Yesterday, after waiting in stationary traffic for two hours we started to move and shortly discovered the severe rain and wind had caused numerous trees to fall down on Route 15. We had to swerve and dodge through branches and trunks and even saw one huge tree trunk which had fallen on a car. Pretty apocalyptic stuff! Eventually they closed the road and we found an alternative way to New Haven. Finally we arrived at around 10pm, after an 8 hour journey from Philadelphia. We caught the first band, The Cavemen Go, who were a really happy group with great harmonies and keyboard/synth. The lead singer’s 6 month old daughter was also there wearing some pretty cool headwear! (see picture). Our set went fine luckily there were some free cookies to give us some last minute energy. The final band, Conversion Party, was also pretty impressive swapping instruments and vocal duties every song between all of them. The venue was a ‘dive bar’ called Cafe 9 and had a really nice New Haven feel and we sampled some American lager and ales. We then headed to a Middle Eastern restaurant at 2am (having not eaten since morning) and enjoyed some kebabs and hummus. Our hosts for the night were the lovely Dan and Eileen and we slept well in their house. Today we drove back to NYC for a gig tonight in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This afternoon we caught the subway to Manhattan and have been chilling out drinking hot chocolate, eating cookies and appreciating the NYC street art and shops. The rain has finally let off perhaps because we just bought some umbrellas…
